LoLo's Frst Press!

I was so excited when I saw this article, because they made me sound really smart and I look cute in the photo (thanks to the fabulous photographer Lauren Slusher . Next step, Oprah!   Okay, seriously I am thrilled to be a part of Condé Nast's Brides Local Magazine.   I wonder if Bobbi Brown will take my phone calls now! 

I really like the articles in this magazine (not just mine!).  I feel they are well written and give very practical advice unlike a lot of the stuff out there.  They have a great one on posing for portraits.  This is the Bride's Chicago version, but the Bride's New York will be out soon. 

PS.  I also really love the new Bobbi Brown eye brightner - can't live without it.  Great on it's own or on top of concealer.

Anne - Red Carpet Beauty

Anne has no idea how gorgeous she is and that is one of the many reason's why I like her so much.  When she came for her trial at my apartment she was stressed out with planning a June wedding and finishing up her M.B.A (from Harvard no less!)  and was still so open and lovely.  I think she is Katherine Heigl's long lost twin, but of course Anne doesn't see that! 

Anne and Alex are a gorgeous young couple but they also seem to be so happy together.  They are both a little camera shy, which you would never guess from Danny Weiss's stunning photos.  Danny did a great job of getting them to open up and have fun with the camera, and the result is amazing. 

I stayed until the beginning of the reception to do touch-ups and give her a more "bronzed diva" look for evening.  Anne and Alex took some photos directly after the ceremony and attended the tail end of their cocktail party, but they spent a great part of their first hour as a married couple with me in the private bridal room as I "glammed up" Anne.  I felt sorry for the two newlyweds having to hang out with me, but what's a makeup artist to do - my bride needed me!

I love my job for many reasons and one is that I get to witness some of the most special and momentous times in a person's life.  It really isn't fair that she is pretty and smart - good thing she is a sweetheart as well.

The New Wedding Videography

Back in the day, wedding videos were something that would send shivers up my spine.  They were painfully long and dominated by drunken people giving their "best" to the happy couple.  The new wedding videographers are the real deal and they make you look like you are starring in your own rock video. The day goes by so quickly and I think it is great to have a well edited and beautifully lit version of the day . I want to get married (again) just to have an excuse to do a video!!!  Here are two wonderful videographers that you should take a look at.  (PS I did the makeup!)

I love Leyda and Rob from Rockmelon www.rockmelon.net, but then again I did chose them to shoot my own How-to-Videos, so one would hope that I loved their work!  They are also super sweet and funny which is a good combination on one of the most stressful days of your life! Take a look at my Carissa who I call my Grace Kelly bride.

Abby - June Bride

I met Abby and her sister for her trial many months ago when it was cold and miserable.  The sisters were clothed in turtlenecks and Tory Burch boots which made it hard to picture how Abby would look as a sunny June bride. When we decided to step it up and do a stained red lip, I had no idea how perfectly suited Abby's look was for this.  I just love this 40s look on Abby and more and more brides are doing retro hair, bird cage veils and finger waves.  This was my first time working with photographer Gulnara from www.gulnarastudios.com (visit her blog for more great photos) .  I am blown away by her talent and how she works with light and movement.  I love how these photos capture Abby's inner and outer beauty as well as the playful spirit of the bridal party.
